Rico Nasty is stepping into a new era.
Rico Nasty is known for her bold and high energy performances, and defined identity and now she’s bringing that same creative force to television. In a new exclusive interview with What The Film, the rapper opened up about making her acting debut, working with Elle Fanning, and how her music career helped prepare her for this next chapter.
For Rico, the move into TV and film did not come out of nowhere. She shared that movies, television, and cartoons have always shaped her creative world, often influencing the characters and references she brings into her music. The one film that left a last impression on her was Scarface, remembering the time she watched it with her father.
“I’m already doing what I wanted to do when I wanted to grow up,” Rico explained, reflecting on her music career. “So what do I want to do when I get older?”
That question helped guide her toward acting.
Although this marks her first major acting role, Rico said the opportunity did not simply fall into her lap. She had taken classes, auditioned for roles, and once viewed acting as something that felt far away. Landing this role made the experience feel surreal, especially with her music also becoming part of the show.
Rico also praised Elle Fanning, saying that working with Fanning surprised her in the best way, describing her as down to earth, funny, real, and even cooler in person.
For Rico Nasty, acting is not replacing music. It is expanding the world she has already built.
And if this debut is any indication, she is only getting started.
