Art Beats & Lyrics is a documentary that is a testament to the power of cultural expression. The film dives into the underground Atlanta art scene, a place where creativity knows no bounds and innovation thrives.

The film showcases the lead-up to the 20th anniversary of the festival in collaboration with Jack Daniels shows one thing. Atlanta’s artistic legacy is thriving and stronger than ever.

Jabari, the visionary behind Art Beats & Lyrics, started ABL for one simple reason. He felt something was missing in the art world. At the most prestigious galleries in the world nothing seemed to reflect the richness and depth of black culture. What started as a personal quest evolved into a movement redefining traditional boundaries. Jabari teamed up with curator Dwayne “Dubelyoo” Wright and from there ABL was born.

The film introduces us to talented individuals like Shawn Stu Stewart, a former footballer turned painter. Lissette, a graphic designer, brings her unique perspective to the mix, while Sydney, a mural artist from Detroit, adds a splash of urban flair. Without a show like ABL artist like this may never get the opportunity in the spotlight.

The film also dives into Atlanta’s history in the 80’s when the city became a beacon of black creativity. The arts not only played a pivotal role in the Civil Rights Movement but also laid the foundation for Atlanta’s emergence as a hub for entertainment and entrepreneurship. Many people in entertainment refer to Atlanta as “Wakanda”.

Art Beats & Lyrics is not just a celebration of art; it’s a testament to Atlanta’s cultural renaissance and impact.

Directed by Bill Horace, this film is a must-watch for anyone who believes that art should be fresh, exciting, and unlike anything ever seen before.

Art, Beats, and Lyrics is available to stream on Hulu.
