Tyler Perry’s Finding Joy is ready to give Hallmark a run for it’s money.

Starring P-Valley’s Shannon Thornton in her first lead movie role, the film follows Joy, a New York fashion designer who’s ready to take a leap for love.

When I caught up with Shannon and her co-stars Brittany Hall and Inayah, we talked all about love, growth, and that classic “right person, wrong time” energy. “You could both be it for each other,” Brittany told me, “but if you’re not in the right season, it just won’t align.” Shannon nodded, adding, “Sometimes you need a little more life experience before you can recognize the person meant for you.”

And that’s what makes Finding Joy stand out, it’s not just about romance, it’s about rediscovering yourself after life humbles you a few times.

For Inayah, this film was personal. “This movie alone was a leap of faith for me,” she said. “I was scared, but these two beautiful ladies guided me through it. The outcome was bigger than I could’ve imagined.”
