Netflix brought the vibes to Atlanta FIRST this past weekend with an exclusive brunch and premiere screening for She the People, Tyler Perry’s new comedy series that just dropped on the platform.
The event took place at Rumi’s Kitchen in Atlanta and it was giving elevated Southern hospitality meets cultural celebration. And you don’t have to ask, yes, the food was top tier.
Guests were treated to a sneak peek of the first episode at the iPIC theater in Atlanta, followed by a beautiful brunch that felt more like a family reunion. Terri J. Vaughn, who plays the lead role of Antoinette Dunkerson (aka Mississippi’s first Black female lieutenant governor in the series) was in attendance along with former Atlanta mayor and executive producer Keisha Lance Bottoms. A very full circle moment.
She the People knows exactly what it’s doing. It gives satire, it gives real-world chaos, and it gives us a lead character who’s trying to run a state, raise her family, and keep her edges laid , all at once.
The brunch itself was just as memorable as the show. With flowing conversation people genuinely excited about what this moment represents. This wasn’t just another press event, it was a celebration of Black storytelling, womanhood, and the power of representation, especially in a city like Atlanta that continues to shape the culture.

All eight episodes of She the People are now streaming on Netflix.
