The 2024 Atlanta Film Critics Circle winners have been announced!
The Atlanta Film Critics Circle (AFCC), now in its eighth year, has spotlighted some of the most dynamic films of 2024, showcasing a diverse range of storytelling.
One of the most exciting breakout moments of the year comes from Wicked: Part One, where Ariana Grande delivers a career-defining performance as Glinda the Good Witch. Critics are calling her portrayal a revelation, with her natural charisma and powerhouse vocals shining in a role many thought would be hard to top. Her performance has been lauded not only for its depth but also for her seamless transition from pop sensation to Hollywood star, earning her the title of Best Supporting Actress. Grande’s star power has already made waves, and her portrayal is poised to be one of the most memorable of the year.
In other notable awards, Anora, directed by Sean Baker, took home the top honor, with Mikey Madison delivering a stunning performance that earned her both Best Lead Actress and Best Breakthrough Performer.
The AFCC also introduced new categories this year, including Best Voice Performance, which went to Lupita Nyong’o for The Wild Robot, and a fun Best Dog category, with Peggy, from Deadpool & Wolverine, taking home the win.
With such a dynamic mix of films and performances, the AFCC’s top 10 list reflects a diverse range of genres, from the tennis drama Challengers to the sci-fi masterpiece Dune: Part Two. Check out the full list of winners below.
