Have you ever thought of what it’s like to be one of those people stopping you on the streets of New York for fundraising? Get A Real Job, an indie comedy pilot from up and coming comedian stars Samantha Lochs and Yogi Paliwal, gives us a close-up, laugh-out-loud view of the heart-rending yet chaotic world of amateur nonprofit canvassing. But this revolts against the general workplace comedy-a raw story that is irritatingly still so relatable.
We follow the two idealistic yet struggling canvassers Sam and Yogi as they valiantly face another day in the never-ending rollercoaster of fundraising. Think passion meets panic meets hilarity. Joining Lochs and Paliwal on screen will is a cast composed of James Adomian (BoJack Horseman, The President Show, Krapopolis) and Donald Chang (Search Party, Gotham Knights, High Maintenance), contributing a flair of absurdity that’ll have you giggling without haste, even if you’ve never stopped to talk to a single canvasser in your life.
Blending the feel of a classic workplace comedy with the NYC street setting gives Get A Real Job the edge it truly needs to illustrate humor and heart through an undervalued world that most go by without a second thought.
The pilot premieres on Wednesday, November 20, at 9:50 PM at the NYC TV Festival. And since you’re my film buddy I’ve got the plug on tickets which you can grab here: Get A Real Job NY Premiere. Mark your calendars; it’s going to be all laughs here, some grit, and a whole lot of heart.
